There’s Always That One Aunt…
There's usually one aunt at a family gathering that makes you cringe. She sneers at your presence and dismisses you as soon as you enter the room. Her home is overrun with cats. It's microbially infected, and the fixtures are old. She lights the room with candles and wax, which are all set in this.
We have no idea if she had a difficult childhood, but these candle holders make us wonder what it would have been like if she had been our mother. It's not a pleasant thought. We're relieved that things worked out the way they did and that she became our aunt.
