7. Sustainability
Many savvy decorators are turning to recycled products to decorate their homes as climate change continues to worsen. Plant fibers with high durabilities, such as bamboo and hemp, are becoming more common and widely available for flooring and textiles. Many interior designers turn to local artisans to ensure that their money is helping their community while also reducing their carbon footprint compared to products shipped globally or even domestically. Keep an eye out for Made in the USA, fair trade, and products with tags specifying which local artisan(s) made the product, among other things. Often, do your homework regularly.
