The Fat Lady was the portrait that guarded the entrance to the Gryffindor Tower at Hogwarts. She would demand the Gryffindor students to utter the secret password before allowing them access to their dormitory.
During the tumultuous times when Sirius Black escaped from Azkaban and went to Hogwarts, he forcibly removed the portrait from the wall. However, it was later restored to its rightful place by Argus Filch, the caretaker. The Fat Lady was notably seen sobbing when Severus Snape killed Dumbledore.
