Penny and Phil Knight
The origins of the renowned shoe empire Nike often elude many, but it was Phil Knight who initiated and owned the venture. In 1968, he co-founded the shoe import company Blue Ribbon Sports. However, this accomplishment wasn't a solo endeavor.
Playing a crucial role in the early administrative tasks was Penelope Parks. She and Phil Knight tied the knot the same year she joined the company. After a few years, Blue Ribbon Sports underwent a rebranding, giving rise to the iconic Nike brand.
