Caterpillar Fungus
While any dish featuring the word "fungus" may sound unappetizing, caterpillar fungus is a common Himalayan delicacy celebrated for its reputed aphrodisiac properties. This dish has graced tables for centuries, and its origins are steeped in tradition. The preparation, however, takes a rather eerie twist.
The caterpillar fungus parasitizes the larva of a ghost moth, subjecting it to a sinister transformation. The fungus gradually consumes the entire caterpillar from within, eventually culminating in the explosive decapitation of the insect. After this dreadful process, the resultant concoction is cooked, served, and consumed—a culinary journey that might challenge one's palate.
