When it comes to phone conversations, there are many people who are nervous, self-conscious, or even paranoid about who might be listening in. The phone provides a direct line of communication between two or more individuals, but who's to say that someone else isn't tapping in to listen in on the conversation?
This person's brother works as an FBI agent and tries to avoid talking on the phone as much as possible. The idea that someone else is always listening in on our conversations may seem like a joke, but it's not far from the truth. After all, how else could these intelligence agencies pick up on top-secret information without listening in on phone conversations?
