Fidel Castro's Iconic Beard

Fidel Castro, the iconic figure behind the Cuban Revolution, governed Cuba for approximately 47 years, from 1959 to 2006. During this time, due to the U.S. embargo, his supply of razors was cut off, leading to the growth of his famous beard. Castro retained his beard long after his guerrilla days, considering it a symbol of the revolution's triumph.

His beard became such a powerful emblem that the CIA devised a plan (though never executed) to make it fall out by introducing a soluble depilatory into Castro's shoes, which could be absorbed through the skin.
