Baseball's Reign as Cuba's Beloved Sport
Baseball holds a special place in Cuba as the most revered sport. While other sports and recreational activities, including boxing (with Cuban boxers making a significant impact in major competitions), volleyball, wrestling, basketball, sailing, and trekking, have their followings, baseball remains the nation's favorite.
Even though it has American origins, baseball is deeply intertwined with Cuban nationalism, replacing Spanish colonial sports like bullfighting in the 1870s.
