6. Space-Saving Features Are a Must

As they often live in a smaller house than the west, it's no wonder that Japanese people tend to come up with many space-saving tricks and features. For example, you can find a tabletop that hides inside a storage shelf in some houses. Meanwhile, there could be a build-in table for folding or ironing in the laundry room. Under a countertop, there could be trash cans or appliance shelf for keeping objects.
