3. The Notebook
Another film based on the novel by Nicholas Sparks, The Notebook, tells a young couple named Noah and Allie fall in love, only to be torn apart by World War II. In the movie, Noah bought a ruined southern villa built in the 1600s. He intended to turn it into a new home for him and Allie to live in, once they are finally married.
Fans of books and movies often wish they had someone remodeling a riverfront home for them. In real life, this house is called Martin Points Plantation on the island of Wadmalaw, South Carolina. Believe it or not, the house was in excellent condition before the movie was made. Filmmakers made the plantation look older and crumbled before filming Ryan Gosling repairing the mansion. It's unclear whether they are open to visitors, so it would be a good idea to call or e-mail them first.
