Most people try to learn how to play the guitar at one point or another. We all secretly want to be that cool person in films, playing an acoustic guitar in a park while amazed fans flit around us.
Unless this friend actually contributed half the money to that $1300 guitar fund, it's just plain silly to expect the poster to "think of him." He's getting a free guitar out of the situation! Does he not realize how expensive guitars are?!
