The gates are one of Elvis' Graceland's most recognizable characteristics. Fans routinely line up to take selfies with the instantly identifiable gates with a one-of-a-kind design. Music notes and artistic renderings of the King adorned the steel gates, and mimic an open music book when closed. Elvis had them installed roughly a month after he bought Graceland, and paid a hefty check of $1,339.

When Elvis Presley lived at Graceland, fans tend to gather outside the gate in the hopes of catching a glimpse of the music legend. They would also leave him notes and gifts, and some had successfully received his autograph if they were lucky. Elvis Presley and his family have been spotted horseback riding on the Graceland grounds many times, according to fans.
