11. Two people hoarding in a house
Seraphin Reddit user does not have one but two hoarding stories involving completely separate families. While hoarding is not extremely rare, it is also not the most common. Known and gone through two instances of hoarding can be pretty weird. It is estimated that between 1.5-4.2% of people in the US suffer from hyperactive accumulation, and 3-8.5% of people in the US are diagnosed with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. Even though the number is still in the millions, when you look at the US population of more than 320 million, it may be rare to know that some people have a storage disorder.
“I only met hoarders - this very old woman has a small walkway through the house. It is a very insecure situation as she is barely able to walk. The second scenario - some of my neighbors who bought an old, unused house said it was full of furniture, so you can't even get in - is similar to all outbuildings. In the first scenario, (a few) her family members seem to have the same problem and don't realize it's dangerous. In the second case, I think people have been foreclosed or left home. "It seems like a difficult situation to fix - even if it is cleaned up, they will start their collection again."
