Lilo & Stitch's Surprise Original Setting
Storyboard artist Chris Sanders initially imagined Stitch's story in Kansas before ultimately choosing Hawaii's Kaua'i.
The lush island of Kaua'i influenced both the animation and color palette. Sanders also embraced the Hawaiian concept of ohana, which plays a central role in the film's theme.
