Hawaii's Formation Resulted from Volcanic Activity
Approximately 70 million years ago, a remarkable geological phenomenon unfolded as the Pacific tectonic plate drifted over a magma-rich hot spot, giving rise to six islands in rapid succession. Picture it akin to the eruption of a pimple after being disturbed – that's a rough approximation.
Consequently, molten lava surged forth, shaping these islands. The oldest among them, Kauai, dates back around 5.1 million years, followed by O'ahu at 6.2 million years. To this day, volcanic eruptions remain frequent in the Hawaiian archipelago.
