Only Two Mammals Are Indigenous to Hawaii
Since the late 18th century, when Europeans first set foot in Hawaii, various animal species have been introduced to the islands. While this influx of species has significantly impacted Hawaii's ecosystem, a select few have remained unique to this paradise.
Among the current mammal inhabitants of Hawaii, only the Monk Seal and the Hoary Bat are native to the islands. Sadly, both mammals are now classified as endangered due to human activities.
