Macadamia Nuts Are Actually from Australia

Although macadamia nuts are commonly associated with Hawaii and are found in many souvenir shops, they are not native to Hawaii. Originally hailing from Australia, macadamia nuts were introduced to Hawaii towards the end of the 19th century.

These nuts gained commercial success in Hawaii during the 1920s. The state has around 700 macadamia nut farms and eight processing plants. A single macadamia tree can yield approximately 65 pounds of nuts annually.
