Hawaii's Beaches Come in Different Colors
Hawaii boasts a wide variety of beaches, not only in size and shape but also in color. Each beach's unique color is attributed to the varying composition of tiny particles, which make up the most prominent feature of any beach: the sand.
While white-sand beaches are often associated with Hawaii, the islands also offer beaches with sand colors ranging from yellow and red to green and black. For example, Papakolea Beach, located near the southern tip of Hawaii's Big Island, is one of only four green-sand beaches worldwide.
