You think it is silly. No, it is a unique idea. You can store crates, buckets, and larger items on the floor and then place old plywood or tabletop on it. Then covering everything with tablecloths might make people think that they look at a table. They never know (unless you tell them) that you have food supplies under the tablecloth. You can even decorate and place the image on top to make it look more like a table. This is a resourceful and sneaky food storage option.
