Even amid summer's heat and sun, it's never too early to begin thinking about the beautiful colors of autumn and planning your autumn plantings. Autumn is an excellent time to plant fall favorites such as Mums and Sedums, as well as all but the most tender perennials.
In the autumn, plants begin to go dormant; it is ideal for planting, transplant, and divide them without overstressing them. Any landscape plants you didn't have time to grow in the spring would be welcome in the garden come autumn, so grab a notebook and start planning your autumn additions!
