15.Avoid Deer (and Their Ticks)

Deer are a common annoyance in suburban areas, and they can even be found in the middle of cities if there is adequate water and cover nearby. In the winter, deer can be highly damaging to many garden plants and even trees. Deer also carry the dreaded deer Tick, the source of human Lyme disease infection.

To keep deer out of your yard, plant deer-resistant vegetation and secure fencing around the perimeter of your property. Deer avoid poisonous flora like daffodils, foxgloves, and lily of the valley. Mints, lavenders, and sages, for example, have strong scents and are excellent deer repellents.
