#28: Maintaining Image
In recent years, there has been a growing awareness of the importance of recycling and living a more environmentally conscious lifestyle. This trend has prompted many schools and institutions across the country to promote the principles of reduce, reuse, and recycle. However, as is often the case with trends, the reality may not always match the hype.
One student at SJU shared her experience with the recycling program at her school. Despite the presence of recycling bins throughout the campus, she claims that the bins are merely for show and that all waste ultimately ends up in the same dumpster. While the accuracy of this claim is unknown, it is disheartening to think that even in places where sustainability is promoted, it may not be practiced as diligently as we would hope. Nonetheless, it is important to remain committed to environmentally friendly practices and hold institutions accountable for their actions. By continuing to promote sustainability and making conscious choices, we can work towards a brighter, greener future.
