Stopped in Her First Attempt

When Antony took his own life, presumably upon learning that Cleopatra had also attempted suicide, it marked a pivotal moment in their dramatic saga. What's less known is that Cleopatra had tried to end her life before Antony's demise but was thwarted by Octavian. Octavian, who had emerged victorious over both Antony and Cleopatra, had plans to parade them as symbols of his triumph through the streets of Rome.

However, Cleopatra vehemently resisted this fate. All Octavian would promise her was that he would spare her life, a pledge that held no appeal for the proud queen. Defiant, Cleopatra resolved to take her own life, and this time, she succeeded, leaving Octavian seething with anger.
