Marion Davies and William Randolph Hearst
Marion Davies, a Ziegfeld Follies chorus girl, had a connection with newspaper magnate William Randolph Hearst. Although they never married, their relationship became infamous. Hearst, often associated with the inspiration behind "Citizen Kane," supported Davies' career despite controversies.
While Hearst was America's wealthiest man, Davies was accused of being a social climber and allegedly involved with Charlie Chaplin. Upon Hearst's death in 1951, he left Davies 200,000 shares in Hearst Corporation stock.
