Disappointed by Spain’s Performance, Carlos Sainz Criticizes Home Circuit, Prefers Challenging Ferrari Journey

Ferrari's driver, Carlos Sainz, candidly acknowledges the formidable hurdles that the Scuderia has encountered this season, while Red Bull continues to reign supreme on the track. During a recent interview with El Laeguero on Cadena Ser, Sainz shed light on Ferrari's strategy and emphasized the crucial importance of progress. Taking a deeper look at Sainz's viewpoint sheds light on Ferrari's present standing and their earnest desire to narrow the distance between themselves and Red Bull.

Sainz began the Spanish GP on soft tires and initially showed promise, keeping up with the leaders. However, his lap times deteriorated due to significant tire degradation. By around lap 20, there was a possibility of employing a one-stop strategy with the durable red compound tires. Unfortunately, Sainz's car didn't allow him to maintain the required high pace for such a strategy. As the race progressed, both Mercedes drivers easily passed Sainz, further complicating his race.
