Peace and Love
It has become increasingly common to encounter cute, funny, or flirty signs at concerts and festivals, as some individuals delight in expressing themselves through large cardboard letters. We fully support the notion of self-expression, but there are occasions when certain signs leave us utterly perplexed.
While we are familiar with "free hugs" signs, the concept of "free shrugs" leaves us bewildered. How exactly are we supposed to interact with this sign? Does he shrug at us? Or do we reciprocate with a shrug of our own? Is it a choreographed display of mutual ambivalence? Should we concoct a situation to evoke his nonchalant response? Alas, the answers to these queries may forever remain a mystery.
