Rosy Cheeks – Arctic

The Chukchi people of the Arctic live in harsh and challenging climates, and the extreme cold has resulted in a unique and distinctive physical attribute – rosy cheeks. The cold weather causes increased blood flow to the cheeks, giving them a red and flushed appearance.

While this is not a trait they are born with but rather an environmental effect of their living conditions, the Chukchi people consider rosy cheeks a beautiful and charming feature. In their community, cute children with rosy red cheeks are particularly cherished and admired, adding to the warmth and appeal of their cultural practices and traditions. This is a wonderful example of how beauty standards can be influenced by cultural norms and the environment in which people live.
