In China, there is a prevailing belief associating smaller body frames with femininity and attractiveness. Conversely, women with larger figures may face societal judgments, be considered less attractive, and face challenges finding a partner. This societal pressure has given rise to various social media challenges that promote and highlight extremely thin body frames.
One such challenge depicted women wrapping their arms behind their backs and attempting to reach their belly button, showcasing the thinness of their bodies. Other challenges encouraged women to demonstrate how many coins could fit into the dip of their clavicle bone or to compare the width of their waists to thin objects like sheets of paper.
