28. Failure to Lower the Toilet Seat

Not putting down the toilet seat is an age-old battle. Surprisingly, it could be one of the reasons for increasing the divorce rate. Imagine how dreadful it is to be half asleep, sitting down, and falling into the toilet bowl. For any woman who grew up in a primarily female environment and was not "taught" to do this automatically, this could be a significant issue in relationships. Guys, don't you realize that if the toilet seat is up, we'll fall in? The answer is a resounding no. They don't even consider it unless you explain why it bothers you.

And that raises a new question. Is this a male-biased practice? Men must remember to raise the seat when peeing and lower it when finished. And anytime they're out in public, they double-check that the heart is down before proceeding to "number two." So why should women think that everyone else will be as gracious as they are? Egalitarianism is at the heart of feminism. As a result, we must occasionally lift the seat ourselves.
