Joining the Amish Community
Outsiders can become part of an Amish community, which requires a rigorous process. Prospective members must learn and adopt the traditional language of Pennsylvania Dutch.
They are required to live with an Amish family and wholeheartedly embrace Amish customs, immersing themselves in the community's way of life. Finally, their acceptance into the community is determined by a vote among its members.
