Capone's Chef Exposes Aiello's Plot

Among Capone's numerous enemies, Joe Aiello aligned himself with the most determined antagonists, seeking retaliation against Capone and the Chicago Outfit. While many hitmen were sent on missions to eliminate Capone under the orders of their bosses, Aiello stood out due to his relentless commitment to Capone's demise. In 1927, he hired multiple men and even attempted to infiltrate Capone's inner circle by placing prussic acid in the soup of one of Capone's closest companions.

Capone's men displayed an unexpected loyalty, possibly motivated by fear of Capone's wrath. It didn't prove easy to turn anyone against him. Ultimately, the chef exposed Aiello's plot, prompting Capone to dispatch a car filled with men to Aiello's brother's bakery, where they unleashed a barrage of 200 bullets, gravely wounding Aiello's brother.
