In addition to being typically cheaper than hotels, Airbnbs offers a different kind of experience. Hotels are not very personal, and rooms usually contain less than one bed, desk, and window. But the Airbnb room is part of someone's house and is often more cozy and friendly.
Instead of professional salespeople who run a service desk and clean the room doing their jobs, guests can come and meet local families as part of their travel experience. The host can often advise on the best places to visit while in town.
