23. Get the house inspected
You will need to pay someone to make a complete home review before the mortgage is underwritten. The lender would almost always require this paper, and it includes the home's valuation value.
The loan company may decide not to underwrite a mortgage for a home that appears to be in perfect condition but has termite damage. Remember that the house is the lender's collateral because if the appraised value is less than the sale price, the bank will almost certainly deny the loan.
