17. Keep Maintenance Costs

If you have ever seen a house-hunting show on television, you have well aware that home repairs are an unavoidable part of the process. Houses are known as "fixer-uppers," as well as homes that have been foreclosed may have maintenance costs that are as high as the home's purchase price.

Newer homes are less costly to fix, but they may also have higher valuation prices. And if you are buying a house that's just a few years old, make sure you budget for maintenance. Ideally, you will deduct the cost of care from your total budget, leaving you with the amount you can spend on a house. You will eventually locate the residence that you seek.
