However, even Kidman, a beloved figure, faced criticism when she traveled to Hong Kong during the pandemic and appeared to bypass mandatory quarantine measures.
The Commerce and Economic Development Bureau officially exempted Kidman from quarantine, deeming her work "conducive to maintaining the necessary operation and development of Hong Kong's economy." Nevertheless, residents expressed discontent with the decision.
