Chris Evert Analyzes Coco Gauff's Game Deficiencies

The 68-year-old American tennis legend, Chris Evert, did not hold back in her critique of Coco Gauff's game. Speaking on Eurosport, Evert expressed her views, stating, "After that first set, Coco needed to make some changes. When you're losing, you have to adapt. I felt she could have utilized more drop shots as soon as she started approaching the net. At one point, she was trying everything but the kitchen sink, but it was not her style of play. Iga outplayed her at her own game. Iga does everything slightly better than Coco, except for volleys. Mentally, emotionally, and physically, Coco moves just as well as Iga, but her volleying skills need improvement."

Evert highlights the disparity in their forehands and emphasizes Swiatek's superior groundstrokes at present. She suggests that Gauff should have capitalized on her strengths and adopted a more frequent approach to the net. Evert's analysis underscores the importance of leveraging one's advantages in order to gain an edge in the game.
