32. Tomatoes can be a real pain in the neck.

Tomatoes can be found in various dishes, including spaghetti sauces, pizza sauces, and salsa. Tomatoes, like other fruits, must be cooked before being fed to dogs. Solanine, a chemical found in tomato plants, can cause substantial discomfort in canine systems. The levels in the leaves, stems and immature green tomatoes are higher than in the ripe fruit, indicating that they are healthy for dogs to eat.

Instead, omit it from your pet's diet if you're concerned about this. Hypersalivation, anorexia, diarrhea, and severe gastrointestinal upset are just a few of the adverse effects of solanine poisoning. It can cause sadness, behavioral changes, dilated pupils, lethargy, and a sluggish heart rate in the central nervous system. These symptoms can be distressing for your dog, so make an appointment with your veterinarian as soon as possible.
