Amphoras in Greek Design
Metropolitan Museum of Art

19. Amphoras

Amphora is a vase with two handles and is a hallmark of ancient Greek pottery. Historical examples are present in museums and are often two-tone and black terracotta plots depicting gods and mortals and their interactions.

These amphoras' stunning shape makes them instantly and perfectly recognizable as a statement piece on a fireplace or a decorative pillar. Of course, while the real amphoras are Greek, plenty of replicas are made for museums' consumers. The amphoras with a Greek Key, or Meander, pattern, or a mural, will be iconic specials in honor of the Grecian style.
