7. The Ringling Mansion: Ca' d'Zan

Having a monopoly on traveling circuses was an incredibly lucrative venture, John Ringling chose to use his wealth on building the Ca’ d’Zan in Sarasota, Florida. The palatial Venetian Gothic mansion's name came from the Venetian, a regional Romance language. It simply means House of John.

The mansion, which overlooks Sarasota Bay, took inspiration from various sources, including Venice's iconic Doge Palace as well as the Madison Square Garden's original tower. With its stark Gothic architecture surrounded by the Florida landscape, this estate is truly beautiful.
