27. Castle Hill
In Ipswich, Massachusetts, Castle Hill is a Country Place surviving exemplar of landscape design in which wealthy Americans had spacious, luxurious gardens designed for mansions. Castle Hill is comprised of several auxiliary buildings, a magnificent castle, and vast landscaped gardens.
The New York company Olmsted Brothers designed the landscape. These are the famous sons of Frederick Law Olmstead, who designed Central Park, Prospect Park, and other notable spaces. Castle Hill features a massive lawn shopping, terraced gardens, and many other elegantly designed gardens.
