17. Drumthwacket

The residence of the Governor of New Jersey is Drumthwacket. It is an unusual name, a combination of the Gaelic words "wooded" and "hill" to describe the home's beautiful setting outside Trenton's capital in Princeton, New Jersey.

William Penn, the Quaker who initially founded the territory of Pennsylvania for the settlers, once owned the land on which Drumthwacet sits. Architecture is a combination of Colonial Georgian style and Greek Revival, as demonstrated by the extensive utilization of columns at the residence's front.
