16. Glensheen
Glensheen is a massive house that incorporates many elements and styles, including Art Nouveau, Federal, Arts and Crafts, and more, and the only place on this list that resides in Minnesota. It was designed by Clarence H. Johnston and built-in Duluth for 13 years, from 1905 to 1918. The home was built for Chester Adgate Congdon, a lawyer, and capitalist.
Unfortunately, this home is notorious for the 1977 murder of a Congdon family member by Roger Caldwell, another family member's husband. Tour guides do not mention the incident during tours of the mansion out of respect for the remaining family members.
