7. Lyndhurst Castle
This 1838 castle overlooking the Hudson River in Tarrytown, New York, is one of the country's outstanding examples of Gothic Revival architecture. It was originally erected for New York City Mayor William Paulding before being purchased by railroad magnate Jay Gould. It is now used as a museum and a wedding venue.
