12. Biltmore Estate

George Vanderbilt built Biltmore Estate after visiting the Blue Ridge Mountains near Asheville, North Carolina, in 1898. Architect Richard Morris Hunt and landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted assisted him in the castle's construction. It took him six years to create this 250-room French Renaissance castle. Besides, the property also features award-winning vineyards and wineries.
